First Stages: Theater Classes for Kids - Click here to learn more
2:00-5:00pm
First Stages: Theater Classes for Kids introduces youth ages 8-12 to the complete theater experience. The program is designed for students who may have minimal performing experience, but a lot of energy and desire to learn the craft of acting. Students begin by learning the stage environment, then tricks of the acting trade, and engage in critical thinking exercises for building strong character on stage. Through low-pressure participation, children share their own ideas and understand the creative process while enhancing reading, writing, comprehension, teamwork and leadership skills. In June 2005, First Stages received an award by the Community Education Council for District 13 for Providing Children with Invaluable Service &Time.

11:00 am-1:30pm
QIIQ newest program, Young Adult Theater Intensives (YATI), carries workshops that introduce teenagers age 13 and above to monologues, scene studies, classical and contemporary plays, and workshops of their original improvisational work. Theater is known for always having a family-like environment, and young adults develop supportive and professional relationships among their acting partners. Many leave the production as great friends, and like true artists, they also catch the 'theater bug' and are eager to do another show again and again.
All classes are held Sundays for twelve weeks at the Corridor Gallery in Clinton Hill.
Light refreshments are provided.
Performances are held in the theater of the Herbert Von King Cultural Arts Center at Tompkins Park
670 Lafayette Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11216
